The following table shows the recommended
capacity ranges for each style of unguided SERAPID horizontal
chain that is used with shoulders up.The maximum specified force
can be transmitted with stroke lengths of 1m (3.3ft) or less,
regardless of whether the chain is guided or whether the shoulders
are up or down. The ranges are subject to the following conditions
:
- Speed < 150 mm/s (5.9 in./s)
- Duty < 10 cycles/day
- No shock loads
- Temperature < 200°C (392 F*)
- Periodic lubrication
Guided chains can transmit the maximum
force over virtually any length. The C-type guided chains, with
crampons, are not listed.Their capacity is equal to the corresponding
unguided chain without limitation on stroke length.Unguided chains
should only be used for strokes up to 3 m (9.8 ft) with shoulders
up, and up to 5 m (16.4 ft) with shoulders down.
If your application does not fall within these general specifications,
consult
SERAPID engineering for your special solution.
The maximum capacity of each chain
is listed in the far left column of the diagrams. If the chain
can be guided, then the appropriate model will be listed for each
force. In cases where the chain can not be guided, simply cross
reference the force on the vertical axis and the stroke length
on the horizontal axis to determine the appropriate model.Make
certain to reference the chart that correctly corresponds to the
direction of the chain shoulders.
